Rat Town Jiu Jitsu Hosts the Subculture Submission SummitSaturday - February 28 - 2026
Rat Town Jiu Jitsu is proud to present the Subculture Submission Summit, a unique two-day event bringing together Jiu Jitsu, tattoo culture, and community for an unforgettable weekend in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Taking place on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1, the summit will feature instruction from respected Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts Sergio Hernandez and Ryan Clarke, creating a one-of-a-kind training experience for practitioners who appreciate both technical grappling and the creative culture that often surrounds it.
A Weekend Built Around Jiu Jitsu and Community
The Subculture Submission Summit is more than just a seminar. It is an opportunity for members of the Rat Town community and visiting practitioners to come together for two days of learning, training, and connection.
By bringing together instructors from different backgrounds and perspectives, students will have the opportunity to explore new ideas, sharpen their skills, and gain insight into different approaches to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
The event celebrates the shared values that often connect martial arts, creativity, and self-expression: dedication, discipline, individuality, and community.
Featuring Sergio Hernandez
Sergio Hernandez is a respected Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt known for his technical instruction, creative problem-solving, and modern approach to grappling. Based in San Diego, California, Sergio has earned a reputation for helping students understand the details that make techniques effective in live training.
His teaching style emphasizes efficiency, leverage, timing, and practical application, making his instruction valuable for practitioners of all experience levels.
Featuring Ryan Clarke
Joining Sergio Hernandez is respected black belt Ryan Clarke, whose technical approach and years of experience have made him a sought-after instructor within the Jiu Jitsu community.
Students attending the summit will benefit from exposure to multiple teaching styles, systems, and perspectives, creating a richer learning experience throughout the weekend.
Created by Tattooers for Tattooers and Rat Town Members
The Subculture Submission Summit was created to celebrate the natural connection between Jiu Jitsu culture and the creative community. Many practitioners find similarities between martial arts and artistic pursuits, where dedication, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement play a central role.
This event is designed for tattooers, artists, martial artists, and members of the Rat Town community who share a passion for learning, creativity, and personal growth.
After Party at Rat Town
The weekend will also feature an after party at Rat Town Jiu Jitsu on Saturday, February 28, giving attendees the opportunity to connect, share stories, and continue building relationships outside of training.
Events like these help strengthen the sense of community that makes Rat Town more than just a place to train.
